Description
Few wildlife encounters in Canada command as much respect as coming face to face with a mature grizzly bear in the Banff–Jasper wilderness. Known locally as “The Boss,” this massive grizzly moves through the mountain corridors with quiet confidence, reminding us who truly rules these untamed landscapes. Captured crossing the railway tracks at the edge of the forest, this image highlights both the power and vulnerability of grizzlies in the Canadian Rockies. Railways and highways cut through important wildlife corridors, making conservation and coexistence critical for the survival of these iconic animals. Grizzlies play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems — spreading seeds, turning over soil, and helping balance prey populations. Seeing one in the wild is more than a photographic moment; it’s a reminder of the wild spirit that still exists in Canada’s national parks. Photographed respectfully from a safe distance by Lou Fasullo Photography.
