Description
We left on a trip, during peak lilac season. When we got home, I ended up with a cold from being on the plane, so a week later I was finally able to go to my favourite lilac tree. I hoped it was still in bloom, but along the way, I was getting a bit discouraged seeing other trees. I kept driving, I knew that lilac tree was about a week behind ours at home, so I just still a little bit of hope. Once I got to the tree, I saw that the blooms were just about done, and it hadn't bloomed as much as previous years. I decided to stick around, I felt if the sun came out and it got warm, there could be a chance the Hummingbird Moths would appear, I just had to be patient. Well, it worked, they did show up, but not in the numbers I have seen before, just one or two at a time, and they were quick to leave. This took a lot of patience and had to be taken with my telephoto lens, since the flowers were all high up in the tree and there was no way I could get any closer to them. Clinton, BC
