Golden Hour Bonaparte’s Gull

There is a unique magic to early morning bird photography. On this morning, I was sitting low in the mud, with my camera stabilized on a beanbag, when this beautiful Bonaparte’s Gull walked right in front of my lens.Completely oblivious to my presence, the little bird was actively foraging through the wetlands. Suddenly, it stopped right in the warm, golden light of the breaking sun. For a brief, unforgettable window, it stood completely still, looking out as if we were watching the sunrise together. Capturing this intimate, eye-level perspective is exactly why I endure the messy conditions of wildlife photography. It is a beautiful reminder of the fleeting moments of connection we can find in the natural world.
