Beyond the Fog

Description

The trip into Gros Morne's fjords was a windy, albeit slightly sunny, one. But when we left and headed back to shore a heavy cloud moved in, creating this dramatic, haunting and almost otherworldly scene behind our boat. The misty fog added to the majesty of the already stunning glacier-carved and historic landscape. These mountains were carved by massive moving glaciers during the last Ice Age and later cut off from the ocean by the rising Earth millions of years ago. They can reach up to 2,000 feet tall, and that's just above the water.
