A Stroll on the Wild Side

Description

It's an early morning in August in Ottawa and the fog is still hovering after a night of blanketing the city in a thick mist. It's the perfect time for this egret to hunt because the fog provides better visibility. Sunny days are beautiful but there is too much glare to accurately hunt for food underneath the water. The egret walks lightly on the ridge of the water, a spot in the creek that is raised before it dips to continue the creek on a lower level. So instead of wading in the water below, the egret hovers from above to watch for fish and calculate its next move. Everything is peaceful here -- the air, the water and the energy. There's no rush at Nepean Creek, just time.
