Description
While I was walking our dogs one morning, this juvenile Pileated Woodpecker flew out towards us and in a burnt tree by the road. This little one was so focused on getting some food out of the burnt bark, it didn't even notice that it had landed on a tree next to where I already was. The sun wasn't quite up over the mountain yet, so lighting wasn't ideal, but I knew I had to try. I really loved the flash of red when it would peak out from behind the burnt tree. Clinton BC
