Description
A macro battle between a wasp and a European wall lizard caught the attention of my lens this morning on a Victoria, BC log, where this invasive species has successfully colonized the region. This image clearly illustrates the problem of invasive European wall lizards in the Victoria area. Although a wasp is involved in this instance, these lizards have been actively preying on a range of pollinators and other beneficial native species. The wasp lost the battle, but the lizard did not come out unscathed and suffered multiple stings as it swallowed this feisty meal!
