The resilience of wildlife

Description

I spotted a coyote looking like it wanted to cross so I slowed the car down. Sure enough it trotted across the road. In one breath, my emotions swung from elation (from seeing this beautiful creature) to sadness when I saw its injured hind leg through the camera. There was no limp or favoring that limb but I can only imagine how painful that injury must be.
