Description
In September I had an encounter with what looks to be a juvenile green heron. It slowly approached my position; I sat there motionless in my chair as it proceeded to get closer and closer until it was less than five metres from me. It stood on a log on the shore for several minutes and seemed to be watching me. It finally moved on when its companion that had passed by earlier flew on down the shoreline. A moment that I will wonder about and cherish for many years to come.
