Thanks Allen - I agree fire is a very important of the ecology. My biggest worries were the safety of prairie dogs and the black footed ferrets which were just re-introduced into the area. I'm not sure if the cause of the fire has been determined yet.
A very pleasing early spring landscape image...were the fires that came set on purpose? Fires are such a natural and important aspect of grassland ecology that regardless of the source, the benefits to the grassland ecosystem will be huge!
