To me, the seagull is a very beautiful bird. They look so white and pure for a scavenger. You have to really look at this bird close up to appreciate nature's beauty. Photo taken on a cloudy day in Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Thanks Allen. I appreciate that. I've always called them just a plain old seagull. However, it is nice to know exactly what they are called. Such a common bird that most people don't stop to really look at. They are absolutely gorgeous and love to get their picture taken. Thanks again Allen. I'm just an amateur photographer and a nature nut.

This is a Ring-billed Gull, Cynthia, and I agree, they are really quite an impressive bird, especially in their alternate/breeding plumage such as this one is. Their plumage is immaculate, and really highlighted by the bright orange lining inside the mouth. Thanks for sharing!
