West Lake Rehab

This scene is missing some sand, actually a lot of sand. The wet lands below known as "pans" is the bottom of a sand quarry that was operated by Lake Ontario Cement in the 1930's. At one time this whole area contained the largest and highest sand dune at West Lake. Today a rehab program is in effect to heal over the scar left behind from the quarry operations. A twisted steel rail remains in the artificial pans as a reminder.

Good one, RR....it is amazing how, with enough time, nature can rehabilitate itself from even the worst treatment man can give it. Watching the restoration process unfold is quite a learning experience in itself, isn't it. Thanks for sharing.
