Taken on December 20th 2014 at 1:30AM on near Johnson Lake Banff National Park. I was composing a shot of Mt. Rundle with the roads, stars and cloud when this fireball meteor burst onto the scene stealing the show. I was in shock and awe when the event occurred. Once I regained my thoughts I remembered that I was exposing a shot. I stopped the exposure and nervously checked my preview praying that the fireball would be on the frame. Gear: Canon 5D mark III with a Zeiss 21mm 2.8 lens.

Like the old saying goes..."being in the right place at the right time" definitely payed off on this one!
Fantastic shot Bretton. That's being ready for anything and taking advantage when it happens.

What an absolutely amazing and stunning capture. Even without the meteor, this would have been an exceptional landscape shot. Awesome work!
