I was out the other day in the minus 20 degree weather photographing black capped chickadees. I decided to start working on a new project of photographing songbirds in flight. Im getting closer and closer to that perfect capture I have been after. This image was shot with a one speedlight flash set up, it does not provide enough light to fully freeze the action, three more are on the way as I build a setup (outside studio) and perfect my technique. Follow the project at www.facebook.com/naturephotoexpeditions Just saw an article about a vote for the national bird of Canada, could this bird represent Canada? I think so :)

  • Camera: Canon EOS 7D

Wow!! Beautiful shot. Rightfully proud of working on and perfecting a technique that gives such amazing results. I'm trying to capture an action shot of a squirrel as it leaps from our wooden fence to the telephone pole, a good 4 feet jump across the side walk, but haven't got the shot I want yet. goals are good.
