A pair of Pigeon Guillemots playing, perhaps fliratiously on the ocean waters of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver, BC. You can just see a wee glimpse of the tips of the red feet of the bird that dived beneath the ocean waters creating the huge splash.

Congrats on the photo of the week award! I think the composition and the timing is great...I wish I could say I had a photo like that...:)
Thank you to all for your comments and critique.
Agreed, that the image is not perfect. In fact it is a wee bit crooked and could use a little more DOF but they are challenging birds to capture in flight, and I think it's an especially fun image.
Thank you for special honour of photo of the week. My apologies but I just recently joined and I don't know my way around the site yet, including how to reply to members individually.
Very cool capture! Can't help but think that if you had waited for the 'perfect set up' you would have missed out on a great shot. Actually, it's perfect just the way it is.. as Sheri stated very well. Congrats on photo of the week!
Congratulations! Never mind the biting sarcasm of a jealous heart. Compositionally, I see the rule of thirds at work. The picture is tack sharp and has an interesting story behind it. Add to that, the Pigeon Guillemot is an elusive bird that spends most of it's life out at sea, only coming to land to nest. So, I'm sure I speak for most of us in the photo club, when I say, 'good catch,' to see the bird, getting a great, interesting shot, and being honoured with a photo of the week award!
You kidding... photo of the week. Well, Melinda loves it so it must be good. When a photo is so poorly composed or timed that you actually have to explain it.... Hey congrats, your very first upload and its one of the best ever. Yeah, right.
A very exceptional capture!
Stunning photography. I would also like to say you might want to upload it on a website, its called You Pic.
