Nice shot.. one of those unique opportunities, too. You could also crop out the dark object on the right side of the image, which I find distracting, or apply the clone feature to improve on it. I agree with Dave on highlighting and toning down their faces, this would bring out the best features of this image. It's an interesting photo and I've enjoyed viewing it! If you decide to do some editing I hope you will upload the results.
I like this shot! Might have helped to use a smaller aperture, say F16 or so, to have both the deer and cow in focus. You could also expose for the deer and let the cow's face washout or use the highlight and shadow sliders in Nikon's ViewNx software to lighten the deer's face and tone down the cow's face...
