The West Montrose Covered Bridge is the only remaining covered bridge in Ontario. It was designed by John Bear in 1880 and then built in 1881 by John and his brother Benjamin. The 198 foot bridge was covered to protect the wooden floor and frame. In 1937 the floor and sub structures were rebuilt and reinforced by the province of ontario. Locally this is known as The Kissing Bridge.
