Just last year the Great Horned Owl was the Bird of Alberta! My thoughts, we should have kept them. They breed in and around our acreage in Central Alberta and breed once a year in March with eggs hatching in May. It's only been a couple of months and oh my have they grown. They start hooting at dusk and go on all night while they hunt for food.
