Taken this week on the Nanaimo River Estuary in Nanaimo B.C. on Vancouver Island. A short-eared owl looks towards the camera during a hunt. Out of focus Autumn leaves create a nice bokeh.

Steve, good shot as usual, I really like the contrast between Shortie and the background. Stayed to far out again but hopefully sooner than later I'll get a flyby, always enjoy the challenge.
Wow!! Fantastic in-flight!! I didn't even know we had the S.-e. Owl on the island...makes me want to drive up there.... Only the last time we tried that estuary we got skunked...need to leave earlier in the morning I guess.
