This was taken early in the morning off the northern coast of Vancouver Island. The fog was a major deterrent in capturing a crisp shot. This is a singleton Humpback Whale 'bubble net fishing'. This is usually done is groups. The whale dives and releases a circle of bubbles that trap the herring inside and then he comes up the center of the circle with herring spilling out and being swallowed as well from that mouth. Amazing behavior to watch.

Nice picture, Jenny. Whale is an important action element in this picture. The rock at the left and rocks far the end tells layers of this picture. Of course, foggy morning that every photographer wants. Thanks for sharing!
