Daddy feeding Chicks

Happy Fathers Day to all you hard working Dads out there putting food on the table and teaching your kids life lessons. It was last year I took this photo of a Pileated Woodpecker male feeding his chicks. I observed this family last year for a couple of weeks sitting in the woods quietly for hours at a time and noticed it was the Dad that came in every single time to feed these babies, as well I got to see him clean their dirt from the nest cavity once. He was also the one that encouraged them all to fledge from the nest.
