It's taken me many years of hiking and hundreds of miles, but I've finally got my first usable photo, on my second ever sighting of a Fisher. These beautiful and elusive creatures are not the demons they've been made out to be, they're simply living their lives the best they can with what space we've left for them. While not currently listed under the Species at Risk Act (SARA) in Ontario, the Fisher is listed as a species of Special Concern in British Columbia.

Once again, believe this is a Marten! Easy with misidentification because they're similar, however the Marten spends its life in the Maple tree such as this one and the Fisher spends its life near water fishing! Both are elusive, both furry wonderful animals, here in the Yukon we see many of them and I see Marten's in the trees I harvest syrup from often. The Fisher spends time competing with Otters.
