FRAGILE COASTAL & MARINE ECOSYSTEMS

report

Human induced climate change threatens coastal and marine ecosystems through changes in weather patterns, water temperatures, acidification and sea level rise, thereby affecting coastal development, recreation, ocean shipping and marine activities. Here is a beautiful beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island in Tofino, where the erosion of sand has exposed rocks and emaciated shorelines, where normally this would be covered with sand.
