A friend spotted two coyotes curled up sleeping under some bushes. We waited quietly, hoping for a chance to get a few shots when they woke up. We were rewarded for our patience when one got up and walked out into the open to stretch on a log. She waited for her partner to wake, stretch and yawn, then they both surprised us by coming out onto the path to cross just ahead of us. We stayed sitting exactly where we were and again waited quietly. Shortly after, the female appeared back on the trail. She paused, checked her surroundings briefly then just lay down in the grass and we all waited together for her partner to reappear. The partner came out some time later and they both made their way back to their napping spots then eventually headed off into the woods. It was so heartwarming that these coyotes were so relaxed in our presence.
