This photograph took several nights to accomplish. Using a slow shutter speed at night, while making micro adjustments, while being swarmed by mosquitoes is both mentally and physically draining. I sat still for over two hours as this firefly crawled around. It finally stayed still and flashed its green mating signal. I missed the first few shots - then finally managed to get what I had envisioned. My mosquito spray wore off, and I became a sitting buffet. I have never been so swollen from so many mosquito bites in my entire life. I'm convinced that enduring my own self-induced torture was worth it.
