Shot in elk island national park Alarm goes off - 4am. Dressed, gear packed, coffee in hand and it’s time to go. Headed to elk island with an idea and a prayer. 5am arrival at the beginning of the 15ish km Tawayik lake trail, I set off in a hurry. Snapping picks as I go, my goal is to make it to the half way point at sunrise. As I get to the field in between the lakes I reapply bug spray, arm myself with my canon 7d with a 70-200 and a Sony a6400 with the 18-135. Starting off slow and quiet hoping to see some sort of wildlife I set off. I see a massive bald eagle to the north but as I’m taking it in I can’t help feeling distracted and irritated by the swarm of mosquitoes. I start running to keep them off of me while still trying to find a good frame. This is the result. If you look closely you can see mosquitoes in the photo
