This past weekend I spent the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday backcountry camping in Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada. While Saturday night was dark and cloudy, Sunday night presented me with a beautiful sunset followed by a clear night sky filled with stars. Imagine my surprise when I headed to the lake to get some photos and I spotted a comet flying towards the horizon! I had no idea that there was a comet in the sky this weekend, this is called Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) I was blown away by how bright and clear it was. Having seen comet Neowise in 2020, this one was very different and moved much faster in the sky and was much easier to spot. Not long after I took this photo the comet moved below the horizon and was quickly gone.
