Aerial photo of the ancient sod houses near Pond Inlet, Nunavut. Back in time, Inuit spent their winters in sod huts covered with skin and moss, known as Qarnmait. Those camps were strategically placed in prime hunting locations. The North Baffin region is dotted with archaeological sites from the Thule culture, the ancestors of today's Inuit.
