Mother Nature demonstrates the various types and shapes ice can take on Elizabeth Bay, Manitoulin Island, Ontario. First there were small floes, then the water level rose with a few days' melting, then, carrying shards, it froze over the floes. Then currents pushed a floating layer of snowy ice on top of the recent freeze--to give us a total of three layers with four forms of ice.
