On a recent drive I saw a clump of fur sticking up over the bank of the road. I stopped the car, grabbed the camera and got out for a look. The clump of fur was actually quills attached to a porcupine!! Porcupines are nocturnal but will occasionally forage during the day so it was my lucky day! When I got to a specific distance from the porcupine, it turned around showing me its back and tail! No verbal communication required there! I backed away to a respectable distance where I could still see it and sat down in the ditch with it. After several minutes it turned around to watch me and I took some pictures before leaving it to continue on its day!
