My wife and I had driven out to the darkest place we could find (considering the moon was full it is hard to find what we would consider dark). I set up the tripod hoping for some magic, but the lights started to fade. I turned to my wife and shrugged my shoulders as if to say "I give up", then suddenly this burst of color radiated through the sky for about a minute, then tapered off and almost disappeared. This was one of the shots I got in that short span of time.
